How To download YouTube videos?

Are you looking to download the latest YouTube video? While basic YouTube does not offer downloads for certain videos from certain locations, there are options for downloading any YouTube video that you like anytime.

This article will go over two options: paying for YouTube Premium and using the free Mac, Windows, or Linux application.

The paid option is YouTube Premium

I’m a huge fan of YouTube Premium since it keeps my wife and me from having to endure the majority of ads However, it’s an expensive expense. You can sign up for YouTube Premium for $11.99 a month (or $17.99 per month for the family package).

My personal favorite is the complete absence of ads from Google. There aren’t any banners, there is no pre-roll and there are no interstitial advertisements. But when a YouTube channel wishes to embed an advertisement in the YouTube video YouTube Premium won’t block those YouTuber-integrated advertisements.

YouTube Premium also offers background play, picture-in-picture and background play, YouTube Music, and access to YouTube Originals. I’ve never tried these three features, but they’re all part of the premium package.

YouTube Premium comes with the ability to download videos. If you’re using YouTube Premium, you’ll have the option to download videos from your web browser or on your phone application.

Check out the download button, which is highlighted by my Arrows.

You can download them in the Downloads section of YouTube.

Note that YouTube declares that the downloaded files remain in place in the event that you are connected to Internet access at least every 30 days. So, YouTube can confirm you remain an active YouTube Premium subscriber.

where to find downloads

There’s no simple way to transform that download into a video that can be used for a PC and, therefore, if you wish to use the video for something other than offline watching then you’re not in the clear. Similar is the case with iOS.

If your phone is an Android user and has an SD card slot on your phone, you’ll be able to alter the YouTube settings for the app (tap your profile photo, then Settings, and then downloads) to save your videos on your SD card.

download options

So, you’ve learned how to download videos in a barely usable format at a low cost that is $11.99 monthly. What if, however, you’d like more options and would like to do it for no cost? Yes, we’ve got your back.

Your (even better) free option: ClipGrab

I want to acknowledge ZDNet’s managing editor for the program’s introduction to me some time ago. It’s been a staple in my use since after.

ClipGrab is a program that is free access to Mac, Windows, and Linux users. The creator claims that it’s open-source, but the source software is only available for Linux. In any event, ClipGrab rocks.

Use your browser at and click the Show All Download Options link. You’ll find download options available for Mac, Windows, and Linux there. I’ll demonstrate how to download the Mac version in the post, however, the interface is nearly identical for all three.

Making use of ClipGrab is simple

  1. Copy the YouTube link. This can be done by using your browser’s URL bar or clicking the Share button beneath the video’s title.
  2. After that, launch ClipGrab. Make sure that you’re in the Downloads tab.
  3. Enter your URL for the movie that you want to download.
  4. Click the Grab button. this Clip.

There are options to alter.

For instance, you could select the format you would like the video to be stored in when it’s saved to your computer. I usually choose Original however, I’ll choose another format if it isn’t working.

You may also select a resolution for download. Based on the original resolution, you may decide to download the entire resolution or lower the resolution in order to save space.

After that, clicking to open the settings tab allows you to customize the location ClipGrab puts your newly downloaded videos.

Legal, moral, ethical, and caloric concerns

Once you’ve learned the method to download YouTube videos, do you? Be aware that each state has its own laws. It could or might make sense to not download any specific video, even though all you wish to do is play it offline.

If you’re looking to download a video in order to incorporate it into something that you’re making, be aware that certain countries use the concept of fair use. In these jurisdictions, even small footage of copyrighted content is able to be integrated into your creations. However, keep in mind that YouTube is an algorithmic platform that looks for users who reuse their videos and your channel may be given an accusation of using media.
