If you are seeing the error “The server has not yet been opened” in Crystal Reports, there is a good chance that your server isn’t open. This can occur for several reasons. Often, it can be related to a data source. Check if the file is mappable and has the right permissions.
This error can be caused by unauthorized access. Make sure your database server allows connections from the client PC. Some databases require you to configure security for new clients. Then, make sure you’ve allowed the database server to allow Crystal Reports access. If the error continues, you may have to restart Crystal Reports on your server.
The ODBC data source may have a different name on your computer. If you’re using a different computer for the report runner, uncheck the box that says “Use report settings.” Then, select the connection that matches the name of the database in the server.
